Wii price confirmed!

to me wii looks a good bargain but in the long run the 360 and ps3 will outlast wii ,3rd party support is very important and thats what let the gamecube down, plus none of the kids i know want to play mario they are all waiting for the next installment of gta .

I think that's right - I wouldn't have a Gamecube given to me at the moment because AFAIK there isn't one game on that platform that appeals to me. If the Wii is the same then it really doesn't matter how cheap it is, or how powerful it is etc. If there aren't games that I want then it's all moot. Much like the 360 currently for me.

3rd party support did let the gamecube down a lot, But the games that really shined on the gamecube were actually the 1st party ones anyway :D

we will be ripped off again , it will be £200 imo over here ( but to gaurentee a monster hit it needs to be nearer the £150 mark imo)

I personally think all three consoles bring different aspects to the market and they can all survive if the software support is there.

Both the wii and the x360 are cheap enough ( or will hopefully be soon) that most people can buy it , if not on a whim certainly without too much hassle (however certainly with the X360 the software prices could kill it)

This isnt any reference to sony or nintendo software prices, it could well be the same for them - but my impression is that £50 for a game is just too much. I realise most developers need more time and staff to develope new gen games but thats too steep - I still reckon that if you dropped top price down to £40 or less the publisher would sell more units to compensate for the lower price

Maybe Sony have bet the bank on blu-ray and the ps3 and dev costs have made the initial price too high for most punters - only time will tell. I personally think that the ps3 will come more into its own the longer its on the market and it will last longer than the other two machines ( but I will be more than happy to eat my words if that becomes necessary)

Even tho i still like them, the 1st party games like mario sunshine/kart and Zelda WW just wasnt as good as their N64 counter parts, its was games like Resident evil ramake, Resident evil 4 and Tales of Symphonia that made the cube worth while for me.

So 3rd party support wasnt a totally let down for the Cube.

Well tbh 3rd party games IMO ain't really that great when released on all 3 consoles, I prefer the [Insert Console here] Only games. Yes the games that did it for me were the Resident evils being Ninty only, Zelda was ok nothing compaired to what the new one will be. Also the fact that I thought more Sonic games may come out on the cube which didn't really happen.

I'm sure 3rd party support will be much better for the Wii than it was for the gamecube. Reason being that everyone seems to be excited about the Wii controller and also the fact that developement costs of Wii games are much less than the PS3/Xbox 360 counterparts.

Whether any of the extra games will be any good is anyones guess

last week i had a chat with a big ninty fan who was in his early fiftys ,all he said was nintendo made better 1st party games than sony or microsoft. i had to agree with him .
but the point i had to make was that kids attitude to games have changed and nintendo have alienated a large section of the public.
the wii seems to me a design of desparation, one last chance to claim the number one status it once had.
now dont get me wrong i like nintendo and will purchase the console on launch day but i've the got 360 and ps3 to fall back on .

It seems like the opposite to me mate. Nintendo aren't going for number one, they are going for a completely different market and are simply aiming to make a nice profit.

I would call it a case of revolution not desperation.
lol! Wait until it's released at least! It's underpowered compared to it's larger rivals but hey - it's all about the games I guess !! :)

Wait until it's release? I don't understand what you mean?
I only stated that it's not a desperate bid for buyers, but Nintendo trying to revolutionise gaming regardless of whether it's good or not :).

I really don't get his point either. He needs to articulate himself much better.

lol - As my post has obviously proved too cryptic (albeit rather plain imo)..

This might seem like a wild theory but I'm certain the goal of all next gen console manufacturers is to revolutionise gaming :)

I simply found "I would call it a case of revolution not desperation" a little dramatic. :)

the word desparation is too harsh ,what i really mean is that nintendo realise that they cannot compete with sony and microsoft in terms of powerfull consoles, the wii design is due to that
the history of nintendo from 1995 to the present day is of a downward spirall handhelds and pokemon is what keeps them alive and i am gratefull for that (handelds not pokemon).
they dont seem to win over new games players the wii seems to be their last chance, fingers crossed

I haven't really paid much attention to the wii as of yet, even though I do own a GC.

Sorry if this has been covered before on other threads etc, but what sort of specs are we looking at in comparison to the 360/PS3?

Can't compete with Sony and Microsoft in terms of powerful consoles? You don't seem to know much... Nintendo have around $8 billion in cash in the bank, and they made more profit than the whole of Sony last year IIRC. They're not going anywhere anytime soon. ;)

Nintendo Wii Gets a Huge Thumbs Up In Japan - PS3 Too Expensive.

Looks like Sony might be set for a shock in its domestic territory, with a poll conducted by Famitsu revealing 70% were looking most forward to the Wii in comparison to a mere figure of 21% in relation to the PS3. Over 88% of those polled by Famitsu, said the PS3 was simply too expensive in price. Mr Kutaragai'comments about the PS3 price being fine if you consider it to be more than just a toy are wrong, or it's just that too many Famitsu readers class the PS3 as a toy.

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nearly 70% of readers said they are most looking forward to Wii. 21% voted for PlayStation 3, while the others voted for systems already released. 88.4% of readers believe PlayStation 3 is too expensive, while 10% believe it's "about right".

Readers have also been voting on the most important announcements to come out of E3.

Famitsu readers' biggest news of E3

1. PlayStation 3's price and release date announcement
2. Final Fantasy XIII announcement
3. Nintendo's Wii price/release date no-show
4. Nintendo Wii title line-up announcement
5. Announcement of Super Smash Brothers X on Wii

Readers also voted in the game they are most looking forward to...

1. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
2. Final Fantasy XIII
3. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
