Hi,

Me and the girlfriend have just treated ourselves to a wii with wii sports, we also got a 2nd control with wii play which is all fun.

what should be our next purchase, we want fun multi player games rather than the more serious things.

was looking at mario and sonic olympics, but is there anything a little older (and therefore a little cheaper) that's well worth a shout? :)

raving rabbids is cool and a good laugh

found nothing on the wii is that cheap and we get most of our games through tesco rental which means you get to have them for a few weeks then get rid, and this works out really well for the wii games as most are not keepers.

Be careful... there's a lot of rubbish on the Wii. It's a great console but it's marred by a library of games in which at least two thirds is utter crap.

That being said...

Mario Kart
Zack & Wiki (single player, but it's puzzly so you can play it together)
Lego Star Wars (excellent in co-op)

I am in the same boat. Bought Mario kart which is good fun but like all other MK games I have played, I get bored very quickly.

I was thinking about the following but not sure:-

Worms
Pro Evo Soccer
House of the dead

Are they any good?

Also on the renting front, I went in to blockbuster and was shoked to see that there were no Wii games to hire only to buy and the 2nd hand section was no cheaper than buying new. BB for me was always pretty good for games but its just poo on the Wii.

According to metacritic, average scores for those games are:

Worms - 64%
Pro Evo Soccer - 83%
House of the dead - 66%

So Pro Evo is probably a good bet, but maybe best avoid the other two. By the bye, if you have a DS, Worms Open Warfare 2 is meant to be very good.

I was playing Boom Blox yesterday which is coming out this week, it was suitably different and fun to warrant picking it up, ended up sticking with it for a few hours which is rare for me.

Xbox 360?

I don't think that works on the Wii tbh

Now that's an Idea, didn't occur to me to rent (can always buy the ones I like then) can you tell I'm new to consoles :D

Thanks for all the suggestions I shall now take the list and have a closer look at them :)

It never ceases to amaze me that people don't read the question being asked. Someone asks for a fun multi-player game to play with their girlfriend and people recommend Resi 4 and Zelda. Brilliant.

I agree with that, a very refreshing game and had me glued for a few hours which is a 1st on the Wii as most games get 10 mins and that's it.

For multi-player games with the gf, I'd second votes for:

Mario & Sonic at the Olympics
Mario Party
Mario Kart
plus obviously Wii Sports and Wii Play (but you've got both already).

I'm a big fan of G1 Jockey but have yet to try the multi-player function so can't comment on that - it was decent fun as a multi-player on the PS2 though.

my gf likes umbrella chronicles, its the same difficulty with 1 or 2 players, or so it seems, so the extra couple of times she actually hits something may come as a slight aid to me ;) lol

we also got mario party, we just dont play it very often otherwise it gets a bit boring, quite quick

wii fit is also very good, can take it in turns to beat each others scores etc

Wario Ware
Rayman Raving Rabbids 1 & 2
Mario Kart Wii
Lego Star Wars - complete saga

They are jealous BoomAM
