You need to get a componant to vga transcoder to allow you too display 480p in a form which the monitor understands (vga)

Surely starting the thread before ordering would have been a better idea?
jimmyjimmyo is correct, it won't work - those cables are for tv's which specifically take component through a vga slot, most screens don't.

You can get them cheaper than goatboy posted and because with the Wii quality is not really an issue (what I mean by that is the video bandwidth is not Hi-def and I in no way meant it to be a negative comment on the Wii).
The unit Goatboy posted is a really nice premium unit but a bit too much for the wii imo

okay got the transcoder coming tomorrow, hope my lcd will work read that some people are getting "resolution not supported" so lets see what it does, after all the Wii is only 480p which is well within the limits of my Viewsonic VX724.

Well got it and the image is great amazingly better than composite! only thing is my monitor wont let me adjust the vertical so I ham missing a bit of the top and bottom; not enough to effect any games.
Now all Nintendo need to do is get the vc working over it...
