Wii Tour Dates

the girl on the booth at the bullring said i was fine taking photos...only got a couple of decent ones though.
Whereas I got told off for taking pictures today at the bullring by the bloke!! Honestly cant see what the problem with pictures was, it's hardly like it's top secret stuff the console and all the games are out in the US in 2 days for gods sake!!

I had a go at Wario Ware & Wii Sports Tennis as they were the ones you didn't have to wait 10 years to have a go on (Like Zelda!!) they also had Trauma Centre on at one point and had Excitetruck on the other pod.

Bit odd having Wario & Excitetruck on really as neither are going to be out at launch or even in 2006!

As for the games I was impressed by the controllers sensitivity you only needed a flick of the wrist on tennis and any delay wasn't more than a fraction of a second. The demo of Wario didn't have too many mini games but it showed off that it should be a lot of fun hopefully it'll have some decient multiplayer action.

here's a roundup from another forum of somebody who must have won some kinda nintendo prize. He got to play lots of the games and had a lot of time with them i think.

"Just got back, and its even better than I thought. I've spent about 5 hours playing the Wii at the Nintendo Wii house with 3 other lucky "Nintendo vip members", although as they have about 15 plasmas and Wii's set up, a lof of the time without them! I must admit it sounded dodgy, meeting a guy in a blue car outside a tube station at 10am with a suitcase full of cash (I made the cash bit up). Anyway this is a brief rambling of what I thought, I’m no journalist and wrote this in about 10 minutes so this ain’t no IGN quality report, foo! (but clearly with a consistent level of attempted poor humour).

Super Monkey ball: as someone else has said the game is perfect with this controller. it feels very natural, also the graphics look great. there basic but it feels right and the style is an improvement over the original. it took me almost no time to adjust to the controller method - and its better than using a normal controller, you really are now controlling the world in front of you.

Zelda: Its good, im not sure if i have the patience though. I've given up on previous Zelda's and feel this would be the same. Good use of the wiimote though. I think this is going to be (for me anyway) one i get if i run out of other games.

Sonic: after the awful xbox demo, this game gave me some faith back. Its more like the original Sonics in that its fast paced. Again i didnt feel the graphics limitations caused any problems, after all the 360 played rubbish no matter how nice it looked.

Excite truck: good fun, only 1 level demo they had for us to play. again the graphics impressed me, i was expecting to be disappointed and have been playing GOW for passed few nights but this really isn’t cube graphics, they are a decent improvement - just not HD. few minutes to pick up the controls. it had the wheel attachment on it that you get with the other racing game. i forget the name of the other racing game, but its not as fun as excite truck.

Barnyard: well, its for kids. You can shake up milk drums to turn them to cream "got milk" very odd. apart from that seems to be a standard platformer, lots of aimless roaming i found. graphics which even the cube can surpass.

Wario: it is even more random than previous versions, and they like making you look like a tool, but its good fun. seems to be a lot more areas than before with different takes on the games. need this game now! great multiplayer but also better for single player than wii sports.

Mario: they had this, and its a pretty full version although not complete, but weren’t allowed to show it to us - the teasers

Elebits: really wanted to play this, but the demo they had wasn’t working for some reason.

Wii Sports: to prove how easy it is to pick up, the taxi driver just happened to take a shot in baseball mid game - he got a home run before either of us. I think the game is great two+ player but feel one player will get a bit tiresome soon as half the fun is just the jumping about and laughing at each other. But I am sure we will get Mario Tennis which will build on this and work single and multi player.

Wii Play: you can ride a cow, oh yes. duck hunt style game is great and prooves we need time crisis on the machine.

Rampage: repetitive, just keep shaking etc, worst of the bunch. (maybe it gets deeper? I doubt it)

Trauma centre: I’ve not played the DS version, but knew what it was about. It’s pretty deep and an unusual subject, but it is engrossing. It does almost feel like you really are pulling the bits of glass out and stitching this poor guy up. P.s. he died. Good job I’m not a doctor. It is a bit text heavy, but in some ways that is a blessing as all that voice-over if it was an annoying accent would be a trauma in itself.

So, its better than I thought (I had faith in it being good as have a pre-order in!), the remote is lighter and works far better than I imagined, the speaker in the remote is novel but ads a little more depth, getting the whack come through it e.g in tennis.

After playing these my must haves are pretty much in line with what i thought before and what reviews are saying, so no surprises the must haves on launch are Zelda (although personally I’ll wait for that one), Wii Sports, Wii Play (as its so cheap when you factor in the included remote) and Monkey ball.

Ones I’m most looking forward to into next year are Wario and Sonic, and Mario but they wouldn’t let us play it (or even see it), boo! I also want excite truck, trauma center and more. It makes me even more dubious of what Sony are playing at with there “launch window” games when the Wii has all this to offer.

I'm glad to hear Monkey Ball is getting some love as the original on the GC was a classic but it's been all downhill since then the sequel screwed up all the minigames and that platform one was meant to be ****, seems this might be a return to form.

Me and my mate were gonna goto the glasgow one but before we went we had a look to see what time it was on till, turns out they only had 1 machine present and you could only get 2min shot. wasnt worth the trip. we were v dissapointed :(

It depended what game you played to be honest, i had a good 5+ minutes on bowling. But i got there early and it's only a 5 min train journey. Wouldn't have bothered, about an hour after opening it was heaving.

Just got back from Glasgow today. I played Bowling, got 10 frames in. Was great fun, the controller is responsive as in i could see the effect it had on curving the control replicated on screen, along with the speed i bowled at. Stayed to watch people playing Zelda, the demo let them either do a dungeon training thing or try out fishing. Fishing is hilarious to watch as once the fish bites they had to do reel it in motions with the left while pulling it up with the right. Ultimately looking very funny. I got caught taking pictures and told off :(

My impressions :- As awesome as i thought it would be, and it was nice to see old people and parents enjoying watching and playing it. Wii Sports looks fun and Zelda looks awesome. Roll on launch.

Wii Booth

Some random kid playing Tennis

Nintendo staff showing little kid how to play Golf

Then they clocked me, stupid clicker noise on camera phone and told me to stop

Roll on launch!

I thought I recognised that exact game stand.... I ended up going on the friday after all. It was awesome as I also expected.
