Wii unable to read SSBB disc...

Hi all, I recently got this game for my Wii, which worked right away, and hasn't had a problem ever.

That was until I brought it over to a friend's house. His Wii wouldn't be able to read the disc at all, and there are ABSOLUTELY NO SCRATCHES or specks of dust on it. Now I've been researching a bit about this on Google, and it mainly seems like one of two issues: 1) because it's the first DL disc to be used for a Wii game, any minor scratches or dust on the disc makes it unreadble on a Wii, or 2) some Wiis have dodgy lens in them and require some Nintendo cleaning device.

Now I doubt it is 1), as I said my disc is in immaculate condition and (surprisingly) has only been in and out of the console less than 5 times, plus it works fine on my console. If it is indeed 2), then I may have to warn my friend (who got his Wii much earlier than I did) that he may get future issues with DL Wii games. What I would like to know is if anyone has suffered this issue before, and what they did about it? Regards

PS. I bought SSBB along with my Wii about 3 weeks ago, all brand new of course

SSBB is the first dual layer game and causes some issues with old Wii consoles. Nintendo fix this free of charge.

Edit: didn't read your post before replying, having done so it seems you know what the issue is and what to do.

I see, thanks for the reply. I haven't had the chance to bring back home my SSBB to retest it on my console but I assume my Wii and disc is fine. So I guess I'll have to tell him about his Wii, that it may have problems with future DL-based titles
