Hi.

My dad (at 62) wants a Wii, and it looks like stock is finally to reach places this week, but i want to know what he needs as a basic package.

I hear there are 'controllers' & 'nun chucks' which is confusing, how many come with the console and how many do you need per person and/or for two player games?

I take the sports games advertised come with the console, is there any other games like that available?

I saw a package for 8 mini games with a free controller remote for £35, and they say the remote is £30, is that worth getting?

Cheers for clearing this up.

The console comes with 1 controlled (wiimote) and 1 nunchuck attachment, which is required for some games, but by no means all. For example, with WiiSports (the game that comes with the console), you only need the nunchuck for the boxing game.

Thats WiiPlay I think - and yes its worth getting imo. You need an extra controller really for things like 2-player tennis, and its basically 8 mini-games for a fiver then.

As above, get the Wii which comes with Wii Sports, then buy Wii Play which comes with an extra Wii mote and probably an extra Nunchuck so you can play two players on any of the games. Thats all I have with a couple fo extra games.

Techinally all you need comes in the box, you could upgrade to a RGB scart or component cable. If you want two-player then the WiiPlay is a good buy.

I'd say you would also benifit from getting some rechargable batteries.

So get the console, Wii play and an extra nun chuck?

Also what about saving games?

The only other sports game I can think of is Madden. Fans of American football say it's an excellent version, but I'm not a fan of the sport.

Oh, and there's SSX Blur too... but snowboarding isn't a 'proper' sport (heh, my big sis would disagree with me on that one :D)

I'm not aware of any other sports titles just yet, although I can't imagine that Nintendo aren't already planning Wii Sports 2, due to the considerable success of the 1st one.

Tiger Woods PGA 07 is coming out soon.

Right cheers for the advice, i managed to get him this:

Wii Console + Wii Sports (Hardware) (NEW)

Wii Play (Wii) (NEW)

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Wii) (NEW)

Sonic and the Secret Rings (Wii) (NEW)

Total: £269.94

Wasn't too hard getting my hands on one. Just got up early on Monday, had about 4 windows open for different shops, waited until one came up with stock, quickly ordered it and its now processed and in transit.

WooT!
