I'm presuming here that the Wii has built-in wireless networking...but does anyone know if it as fussy about router as the DS is?

I have a Vigor 2600 and my DS doesn't like it - will it be the same with the Wii? :(

In that case, as I'm probably going to have to buy a USB wireless thing for the DS will this also work with the Wii or am I just better off buying a new router altogether!

My Wii connects up fine to my Vigor 2800vg, so yours should be fine.

yep, defaults to 11.

signal strength isnt the issue, its about 8 foot away, and it sees the signal strength in the connection screen, just fails to connect :(

any more tips gratefully received...

I had problems with the WPN824, channel 11, fully settup.

if you turn of encryption (WEP) does the Wii work ? If yes, then that's the problem, instead of generating a key when you use Wep, SPECIFY one. Netgear routers generally don't work when specifying, add a key your self, and you should be fine.

missed this...

Error no, i forget, pretty generic one i think. i'll find out tonight for definite. As for my WEP i set it manually to like 1234567890 on both, no joy that way - the lappy still connected. I suspect it won't work without wep either, but as i say i'll investigate tonight.

Havent upgraded router, don't really want to as i'm afraid we'll lose the net connection details (shared house, guy who's account it is, is out of the country).

You can export the router config settings via its control panel. It spits out a cfg file which you can stick back in after upgrading the firmware so you shouldn't have a problem if the upgrade does wipe out the details.

Also what wireless mode do you have it set on? A common misconception is the the Wii is wireless g but the card in it is in fact b only so you need it either on mixed b&g or just b mode.

I got v3 of the same router, works fine here.

I am using Channel 1 thou, check mac addy filtering, that was my problem when i couldn't figure out why it wouldn't connect.
