My Wii (that was working fine a couple of days ago) has just bricked. I simply turned it on this morning, the light went green yet there was no signal on the TV and the controllers wouldn't attach to the console.

Have unplugged it all from the mains for a few hours and tried again but nothing, the LED goes green but the thing simply doesn't boot. That particular input on the TV is fine.

I've had a quick google and most things say simply 'It's dead' and 'Phone Nintendo' but if someone here has any bright ideas then I would appreciate it.

Sorry mate your out of luck :(
This is what happened to my Wii when i updated it... about a year ago, the only thing you can do is phone up Nintendo, they will surely fix it.

Either an update has bricked it, or, have you been running that connect24 malarky? In earlier units the wifi module was poorly placed and would actually overheat the GPU as it was adjacent but while the unit was switched off it would generate heat without any form of cooling.

woops, thats why most internet features wont work on my wii then

Mine is a very early Wii, and yes, I had just enabled Wii Connect (for some unknown reason I decided to try out the WiFi as I'd never bothered with it before).

Ho hum, sounds like I'll see what Nintendo have to say but it's way out of it's warranty.

It's a manufacturing flaw, and Nintendo are by far the best out of the three major competitors with out of warranty repair, so you may be surprised with their response :)

same happened to mine aswell didnt realise it overheated at the time when it was switched off, it played ok with the standard def mode but when you switched to enhanced all green crap appeared on the screen. hope you get it fixed :)

Sweet, filled out the fast track repair thingy and will send it off soon!

are they going to charge you for it?

I cant seem to use the news/weather channel and updates wont work either, often get errors, online gaming works just nothing else online.

mine had the whinning drive issue, I took it apart and managed to smoke the led by mising the on button with a screwdriver :(. But I stripped it down to the board and all the tracks seemed to be fine, but no powe rwas coming in through the mains adaptor. So I used another adaptor but when I plugged the mains back in after unpluggin it from the wall it suddenly worked again :):)

By the time I rebuilt it, I had one less blac kscrew, one extra silver screw, and a bit of white plastic that looks like part of some mechanism inside. Never mind it works now anyway :)
