Since I got my wii on Friday I've naturally been playing it a lot, but not that much I'd say, so I was rather annoyed to get a wiimote battery low warning when I started up today. Checked on the wii home menu and sure enough only 1 bar

Please tell me that this is because the batteries shipped with the wii are a pile of cack. Please tell me that someone's running theirs off duracells or something and its still going strong despite playing non-stop since Friday. Anyone?

Was halfway down using the pack in batteries after about 30 hours play...

If the console is switched off pressing a button on the remote will tell you how much battery is left (how many blue squares are lit).

We didn't have any way to identify our wiimotes until Sunday, so I don't know which was used more before then, but now I think my boyfriend has been playing more than me, and mine is one bar down, his shows as full. I wouldn't be surprised if the batteries supplied aren't great, but we will probably get some rechargables once the first ones go.

Free work batteries :D Already have a stack in anticipation. 30 hours for halfway is pretty good. Ive read the harder you flap your arms the less the battery drains ;)

Both of my Wiimotes have full power still! Granted I'm not sure which one now came with the console and which one I purchased afterwards. Guess if I've been alternating which one I've been using for Zelda has increased it.

Will need to get some rechargables for it anyway, since I have heard lots of stories about the batteries not lasting very long. 2800Mah should last a long long time. :)

Looks like vibration and the tiny speaker use a fair bit of power. I got about 25 hours out of the included panasonic batteries with vibration on and default speaker volume.

It is a shame that Nintendo opted for AA batteries in the remote, after doing such a great job on the rechargeables inside the DS. The short-ish lifespan wouldn't have mattered nearly as much if you could simply have USB'd it into the console overnight, ala the 360.

Bought a 1hr fast charger with 4 2500nimh batteries ready for the Wii. Played an average 4hrs per day, almost ALL day Friday and Saturday and only tonight replaced them.

For £19.99, thats a bargain. Looks tidy as well.

Think I'll be getting one of these.. No need to remove batteries from the remotes to charge either :)

powered by USB ? which is like what? 5amps ? How long would that take!

It looks like 2 rubbery wrapped batteries with some conductors at the right places with a hole at the back.
