So I decided to rearrange my lounge Tuesday night after my new speaker system arrived so that sofa was opposite tv and next to beer fridge. :) However after firing my Wii up yesterday and finally getting it online I noticed my Wiimotes kept cutting out unless I leant forwards, this kind of defeats to point be being able to sloth on the sofa! Now I can't be more than 2m-2.5m away from the TV and sensor bar surely that should still be in range?!

You can change the sensitivity in the options somewhere. If you set it lower (I think), it works from further away.

I read somewhere that the optimal distance is up to approx 5m although it can operate as far away as 10m.

As suggested, try configuring the sensitivity in the Wii's options.

Its bluetooth, so it has the same range as most bluetooth devices

That's only for the motion sensing, the IR bar which sits above/below the tv the range is less and this is used for the pointer on-screen. I have the same issue, the screen tracking gets a little sketchy when used from the Sofa, which is about 2.5 meters from the IR bar.

Very wierd, sat down this morning to look at my updates and to make some of the above suggestions (thanks) and it just worked straight from boot at full distance. Not sure whats going on. The range thing happened when I took it round a mates one night, I just asumed it was low batteries, obviously not as these are near enough full. Hopefully thats the end of it.
