Wiki blackout.

ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN !!
The world would be in mass riot if this was to happen
Plus see my post above

Perhaps,

But it doesn't mean you can ignore the fact that such a bill was actually proposed. No, worse, actually harboured a substantial amount of support.

It's a serious thing. Bills like this shouldn't be able to leave the planning room (if bills actually have much thought put into them).

the bill will not get passed
and here is why
linky winky
its all about obama having another term in top seat :)

Also Eric Cantor (House Majority Leader) apparently announced on Monday that he was stopping all action on SOPA which would effectively kill it to.

The bigger problem now apparently is PIPA which is the Senate version of SOPA.

I think Obama's administration said that they were against any form of internet censorship, including SOPA and PIPA. But on it's own that doesn't mean much... Obama was against Guantanamo but it's still there. Obama was against the NDAA, but he still signed it.

Anything that closes Reddit for a day can't be that bad.

Oh come on, Reddit isn't that bad. Sure it's a major cause of loss of productivity. But there's a sub for practically everything you could think of, if there's something you can't find an answer for through Google (which happens more often that we might want to admit) the sheer size of the community makes it one of the best places to ask.

I think I hate it primarily because of all the unfunny meme **** it spews.

I'm sick of this whole meme ****.

It is a cesspit, literally one of the worst places on the internet. I can fully understand why they're opposing the bill as it might mean they need to remove some of their borderline illegal areas.

For clarity, I also oppose the proposal but Reddit is just a minefield of broken, dangerous and possibly insane mouthbreathers.

I think you're overreacting a "bit" here...

Why? If it's not your taste of humour then I would understand. Redittors on the whole seem quite descent people. Have you seen how much they have raised for Charity over the ladt few years?

It's nothing to do with the humour - which, incidentally, is virtually never user generated but instead stolen or appropriated from other, funnier forums - but the forums which appear there. The jailbait one was probably the first to get them public notoriety (TV, newspapers, better websites) but there are several more, and arguably worse, ones still in existence. You don't need to go looking too far to find something deeply nasty.

I think you misunderstand Reddit's primary function. It isn't to create content, although the format has proven versatile enough for that to take place. It's to collect it and put it all in one place.
