Wikihouse is an open-source construction set. The aim is too allow anyone to design, download, and "print" cnc-milled houses and components, which can be assembled with minimal formal skills or training.

Anyone seen this? I randomly came across a link when looking at space launches, so very random.

Such a great idea, not so applicable in the uk due to land and building regulations. Although i think with philanthropist or even kickstarter backing it could be proved for planning permission etc.
Would need to agree with a council to build x-hundread homes on a piece of land. Set up a Community city like several eco cities (theres several in wales, like http://lammas.org.uk).
Get a warehouse with the cnc machines. And let people buy plots and access to the machine shop.
Once you have buildings up, its much easier to get planning permission and insurance else where as the construction is proven or at least being proved.

Its a really interesting project.
