Wild different speeds on same router

On our BT Home hub we have multiple PC's connected. My desktop gets only 500k download speed, my Dad's laptop gets 3 meg and my laptop gets 50 meg, yes 50. Does anyone know what this could be about? We've tested many times over and over and it's always the same speeds.

My desktop is connected by ethernet, both laptops are wireless.

We are sat with all 3 pc's right by the router.

Would help if you state how they're connected to the home hub and how far they are roughly?

Check your ethernet settings and make sure it is running 100mbit full duplex or higher, also try a different ethernet cable. Also are you using the same source to test on each machine?
