I have this all over my front garden, from what I can tell it doesn't seem that bothered about weedkillers and as it is a bulb it just grows back anyway.

Solutions appear to be digging out every single bulb, up to removing a spades worth of topsoil

I want to remove everything apart from a tree and put down a lawn. Has anyone else had to deal with wild garlic and what was your success rate with removing it?

Just eat lots of Italian over the course of the next few weeks :D

In seriousness I didn't realise wild garlic was a problem.

wild garlic is great fro making pestos and all sorts

look at eatweeds.co.uk for recipes and advice. I wish I had wild garlic in my front garden. gotta go to the woods to get it

Garlic is shallow rooted, best to dig over area with a fork, rather than a spade.
Best time to control it is between November to February, before it start growing.

I'm able to obtain weed killer, not available for ordinary oiks, & find even that has very little affect on wild garlic.
You need to crush the garlic stems to have any affect, I've used a garden roller, then spray garlic with weed killer , but it's still better digging with a fork.

Djferrick: You want to plant some wild horse radish in your garden, great for cooking, & the green leaves are also edible, & can be used in salads.

Hire a rotavator - even without the garlic there you want the soil underneath a new lawn to have been seriously gone over anyway. You'll be able to pick the bulbs out as you go.
