I know it’s an APU, but does it have its limits in boards still or is that just higher end models? Basically after Christmas I’m going to get an A320 board and want to get this APU for it. Would be my first 3rd gen plus First time using a 1st gen board with anything higher.

If you plan to buy with the new year Ryzen 4000 APUs are most powerful at same prices.

It should be fine. Though the SoC VRM gets more of a workout with the APUs and a lot of A320 boards don't have a heatsink on it, combined with bargain basement MOSFETs. But then you can't overclock anyway, so some minor airflow will probably do the job.

It's only 2nd gen Ryzen with 3rd gen branding, but as long as the bios is on a compatible version it'll work.
Are you fully set on the A320 board? Waiting a little longer and moving up to the next tier of boards would be a good idea.
