My 1 month trial runs out on the 10.01.07 and im wondering if there is any point buying a year subscription as i've heard M$ will probably drop its Pay-per-play across the net when the PS3 is launched fully, is that true or just gossip, and if it is gossip, is it likely?

First I've heard of it... although I don't actually own a 360 ;) But none of my 360-owning mates have ever said anything about this, and they definitely wouldn't miss a trick like this.

It would be a smart move to do so, but I figure MS make so much money out of it that they won't abolish the fee.

They would be in all sorts of doo refunding the fee's to all those that have subscribed for in excess of a year already.

Never even heard that they will be offering it for free??

Link??

I like the service as it is, it's hardly excessive amounts and I'd rather pay a little and have a gaming service like Live than get a free service which is cumbersome slow and unreliable.

I heard it on here lads.

Wondering if it was just thread filler or actually going to happen.

Live Silver is free. Live Gold is not. Before the guys come in with the PS3 remarks that it's free from the word go; remember it's rubbish for a reason.

nail on the head there m8, plus when u take in to account all the content on the marketplace now ms have to cover the costs of the servers which store it all

Very true, I have had zero problems with the service and I am a huge fan of the easy interface that live has to offer. It is easy to use and very quick, although it has to be said that the downloads can be quite slow off Marketplace but other than that it has been good for me. All in all a quality service.

Whenever I download something from the Marketplace it comes down at a near 8Mb a sec. Pretty good if you ask me.

ISPs have probably started to cotton on and added Xbox Live to the same QoS list as BitTorrent and other "evil" protocols. I'm on Nildram 8Mb if that makes any difference.

My downloads seem ok, although when I download smaller files it seems to take longer

All in all, i hope it doesn't go free. As above I would rather pay a small fee to get a quick and reliable service.

Very happy so far :)

Didn't PS3 network crash recently when a demo of GT went on there?

I'd echo what some people have said already, it's a great service that more than excel's my needs or wants from an online console service and with what they plan and could possibly do with the system in the future im more than happy to pay for it and hope they dont change a thing.

I doubt it'll go free.

It seriously is worth it, I mean you can pick up a live subscription for less then half of what MS charges incredibly easy.

I had a spur of the moment decision to get back into my 360 again and get a Live account one day, and within an hour I'd purchased one off that well known auction site for £20 and had a subscription code emailed to me, then I was playing away :)

We pay for a quality service, I especially dont mind paying because things like this happen when its free. I would rather pay a few quid a month to have a smoother more reliable service.

It simple you pay for a quality service or get a free one that sucks?
Live is free is gaming online that isnt free.

Is your satellite / cable movie, sports programmes free?

Premium services usually have a charge but remember with Live your guarnteed that the quality of service is good with very few problems. I think most people that are subscribers are content with the service and that says a lot.

Consider just this one factor alone
"Free Demos" and you will see the yearly price is well worth the money as a magazine might charge upto £7 for the same demo.
