Basically got a logiteck x-530 and the middle and rear two speakers won;t work at all. I have set my sound card driver software to 5.1 and it also won;t work in games although i have changed the sound to the correct setting in those too. I know the speakers arn;t broken as i tried them with the 5.1 to pohone adapter supplied. Whats do i need to do to get it workin!?

MP3s are 2.0 channel (ie stereo) so you'll only get output from the front left and right. You'll need to check your soundcard software to find out if it has an option to "create" 5.1 surround from a 2.0 input.

Try the online help.

I got 5.1 output from my card. Got it all wired right too.

Will mp3 play through all the speakers anyway?

By default the sound card will output what it gets input. ie 2.0 in, 2.0 out. Stick a DVD in, pick Dolby Digital and I'll wager you'll get 5.1 out.

The software that comes with the card needs to do some trickery to turn the stereo input into a surround output. It might help if you could tell us what the soundcard is.

I tried that every time i start a game then quit it then look at the sttings it has reverted back to just CMSS instead of CMSS-3D which i'm guessing isn;t right.

I doubt CMSS supports the game - too much overhead. Hence why it turns it off. You'd need EAX or some other surround standard for the game.

And so what can i do, what should i do?
