Will 7900GS futureproof?

I'm having a hard time oC'ing my X800XT so i can run BF2 fluidly above 30-40FPS consistently at 1680x1050 with AA & AF, so was considering a bump and was wondering whether the 7900GS would cover me till DX10, Vista, etc.

Basically will 1680x1050 with 4xAA and 16xAF be achievable at a sustainable framerate with an oC'ed 7900GS or will i still struggle or perhaps have a CPU bottleneck with a 3700+ 2.8GHz?

Once the 7900GS drops even further in price, i could get another and run SLi, but i'm highly doubting the space in my PC with an X-Fi card looking to make things a tight fit.
 
7900gs does seem like a good card for the cheapo money. offers low heat output, low noise, low power consumption and good overclocking potentials. i got one on order and it should be here on wednesday as long as the delivery man plays his part right.
