Will 850w be enough?

Hi Guys,

I'm making a big overhaul on graphics within the next two months.

Atm I currently have one Sapphire 5850.

My next step is to install a XFX 8800GT Alpha Dog in for Physx and Cuda and then get a 2nd Sapphire 5850 for XFire.

The only thing is, would I have enough power for them and an overclocked Phenom II 940 @ 1.55v?

Yes. Easily.

Computers don't need as much power as people think. Just check some of the more current GPU reviews on Tom's Hardware (or similar) for proof of that. A high clocked i7, 5870 etc come to about 300-400W in total

Wow that's impressive.

I knew the 5850 wasn't a power hog though, but then adding another one plus a 8800GT made me think.

Thanks for the info :)

PSU will be enough :)

I use crossfire on my i7 setup which pulls about 470w from the mains with the system at full load.

Yes, that will be enough, I made a check on mine, and I used about 350W max :)

So thats just 400W of new GPU to go in there then :P
