Will 8gb of ddr4 cut it?

I've bought almost all of the components for my build, other than the graphics card. I opted for 8gb of corsair vengeance 2400mhz ddr4 ram. Will this be enough for gaming whilst playing poker (not very demanding software) and listening to music (plus possibly having the browser open)?

The cpu is an i7 6700k. I've already gone a bit overbudget, so I don't really want to buy another 8gb unless it would clearly be useful (I suspect it will...). The last time I built a pc 4gb was plenty!

Thanks

If you use multi-monitors or find yourself tabbing out of steam and surfing the web with a game still running in the background then you won't find 8GB enough. Thats my experience anyway.

Never EVER had any trouble using 'only' 8GB of ram, with games running, music in the background streaming in Google Chrome etc and I've played pretty much every big AAA title that stresses a system to it's potential. 16GB is a peace of mind though, can't see anything taking that full amount any time soon.

8GB will be fine for now. 16gb would be ideal though. :)

Only game I've seen use 8GB of RAM was Call of Duty Black Ops 3 on Max Settings.

GTA V, with Skype and one browser page open at the same time (whether Firefox or Edge), uses 55-60% of my 16GB memory. Other than that, 8GB would have been fine for my uses as I haven't come across anything else that exceeds 8. I don't photo or vid render at the moment. Also depends on your programs startup set-up, graphics settings too I'm guessing, etc.

I've also never had any problems gaming with 8gb of RAM OP. If I were you I'd go with marky-mcfly's suggestion though and only upgrade to 16gb if you find yourself running out of RAM with 8gb.

You've gone full bore on the CPU and probably some other parts, you're already over budget so just go 16GB or that itch won't go away.

I have 8 gig and seem to be fine. Everything I've read suggests 8gb will be enough but games are getting bigger and will soon require 16gb for recommended
