Hi all

I'm thinking of treating myself to a Dell 2407WFP-HC for a early Christmas present :). I've been reading all about the screens having ghosting problems but I still think it's worth a try.
The thing I'm a little bothered about is how big a 24 inch screen will look on my desk and how much desk space it will take up. It's a little hard to judge how big the screen actually is from a photo in a magazine or on a web site.
At the moment I have a 4:3 19 inch CRT so will I notice a massive difference in screen size???

You get used to a big monitor quickly, but it will seem massive at first! Don't think anyone regrets moving to a nice big monitor.

Mate, get one, they are lovely monitors. Seems big at first but would go smaller now that I'm use to it.

The only trouble is that I need to upgrade my graphics card as it can't handel the resolution in games.

Cheers

Yeah, they are very nice, got one sitting next to a 17 right now if you want some pictures. Sitting using it, it doesn't look that big, the extra space comes in really handy, but if you look at it turned off from the side it looks as HUGE as it really is, but yeah, one of the best investments i have made.

Mine doesn't ghost, its not EVERY monitor, even if mine does ghost i can't see it so im still happy. Either way he can return it.

Mines does not ghost either, even though allegedly they all do  Maybe I need to put my eyeball on my LCD panel to see it, because I cannot see any ghosting in gaming, movies, with greys etc etc.

There is a slight green after glow on my 2407HC. It only really happens if you drag or scroll something around on a white background but even then it's not exactly obvious that it's happening.

In short, it behaves exactly like I would expect an LCD to behave. And still, the colours are beautiful IMO (possibly the best colour reproduction I've ever seen on any monitor or TV) which more than makes up for it.

I can understand it may be an issue if you are a gamer. But if you are that anal about ghosting then you should probably be using a CRT anyway.

I watched Transformers in 720p the other day on the screen and it is crystal clear - so the ghosting issue definately doesn't affect movie playback.

i used to use a 20" viewsonic until i got a 24" benq, was strange for a day or two, but you soon get used to it. my brother has the 20 now and when i look at it it looks so small, 24 is definitely a great investment.

have you tried adjusting the RGB colours, seems to fix the green after glow problem.
