Will a 3570k stock Intel cooler work on 775 socket CPUs?

If i recall correctly it wont fit sadly. Only the 115x shares the same mounting holes. If it did fit(incase you got creative) i think the performance should be okay for stock operations..

The mounting holes should be fine, it was a bit fiddly but I'm using my s775 3rd party cooler (released before s115xx) with my s1150 Xeon and temps are great.

I guess the main thing to worry about is if the s775 chip runs very hot will the stock 3570k cooler be enough for it? I would've thought so but could be a problem.

Some boards had extra 775 mounting holes, but on the whole 775 coolers and 115x coolers are not interchangeable:

775 - 72mm spacing between holes
115x - 75mm spacing between holes

1366/2011 - 80mm spacing

not fact but good enough for me: http://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1192997
