Will a ATX 2.2 / EPS 2.91 PSU work with X79 System?

As above got an old Hiper PSU, which works fine but was wondering if it will work OK with an X79 Motherboard?

Plently of power, just an older standard

It should work, but I wouldn't use a Hiper PSU on a PC with any significant value.

Yea I know what you're saying, not got a great rep but ive got one lying around. Just trying to convince myself it will do rather than spending £60/£70 and a new supply

You must be mad risking a decent rig with a Hiper psu and a old one at that. Which Hiper is it? A lot of them had abysmally weak 12v rails, the Type R 580w only had 360w and has a habit of exploding and taking other components with it.
