Will a 'dying' Router be the cause of my speed issues?

Hi all,

following on from my thread the other day, I'm now on the phone to Sky who think my router is dying so are sending me a free one....but I'm wondering, if the router IS faulty, would downstream speed be affected? I thought it just took what it received from Sky?

Ive checked your previous thread and you haven't posted your router stats. We need sync rates, SNR Margins, Attenuation both downstream and upstream - we then should be able to give you an indication of whats going wrong.
