will a fast gfx card speed up windows?

just a quick question

im planning on a new build (e6550, ds3p, 2gb ocz ram)

i dont play any games but i want to get the most out of my system using vista

i have a spare x700 pcie cheapy, will that be ok for general windows, movies etc

or will i need a faster card?

what im trying to say is will the x700 slow my system down in anyway?

If you are going to be using vista I would get another

An X700 will be fine for Vista as long as you dont play games.

As long as it meets the min spec for Aero (which I'm pretty sure it does) then you should see no effect on windows performance caused by running the x700

yeh i used vista with this card and aero does indeed work.

i think il just stick to it then for a while

thought about going x1950pro, but maybe a bit overkill for me

Yeah it'll be more than enough. One of my Vista machines ran with an X300 SE for nearly a year. It's now got a monstrous 7100GS.

Shouldn't do, ive gone from an 8800 GT to an onboard GeForce 6100, and it seems the same to me in XP.
