I currently have a 1095t BE @ 4ghz and i'v just bought myself a 3gb vapourx 7950.
Would a FX8350 be a significant cpu upgrade and would it even go in my board?
a M4A89GTD PRO/USB3

Thanks

The 8350's not on the support list.

If for gaming then I don't know... there will be some improvement but an i5 will offer more. Multithreaded apps should see a healthy boost though.

there is no way to say for sure without trying but then your wasting money.

the board does support ( albeit limited ) bulldozer chips so it might well also work with piledriver. I know I had a 790 mini itx board that was asus that i updated the bios in to the bulldozer bios and it accepted the piledriver

While im personally very happy with my piledriver i do not think its worth it even if the board supported an FX-8320 or fx8350. The performance wouldnt be big enough to justify the purchase considering what you already have. You already got 6 true cores under the hood, it should last you a while longer until AMDs next offering comes up or you perhaps find a complete platform change to Intel to be desirable. In both cases a new mobo would be required. Save the money for now i would say.

I think that's a very sensible decision. I doubt you would see any benefit over what you already have (even if your board did support the FX8350). You would probably be best waiting for the Kaveri (Steamroller) chips at the end of the year/early 2014 (and then do a rebuild).
