Will a GTX 550 Ti do??

Hi there my mates asking me to build his son a gaming system for his Xmas present, however he's on a tight budget. I've been looking at putting a 1gb Evga 550ti in the system as its £98 and looks good for the money. He will be running at 1920x1080 on a LCD tv. Do you think this will play most games ok without turning aa right up etc? Or can you think of anything of a similar price which might be better? Thank you

if your friend's son is in to PC gaming then the 6850 will serve him a fair bit better than the 550ti

Edit: Also if you get a board with x8 x8 crossfire support or better then he can add another 6850 later if he needs to

At present he just has an Xbox and wants to get into pc gaming. Thanks for your advice these cards sound great
