Will a network switch work with Powerline adaptors?

I might be buying a Devolo powerline kit soon but each adaptor only has 1 port which wont be enough for me as i need to connect 3 devices. Do network switches work with powerline adaptors as well as they do with a proper wired network?

The switch won't even know the adapters are there, as far as its concerned it's just a standard wired Ethernet connection.
 
Since the main router is what is providing the IP addresses and not the powerline adapters you should have no problems connecting a switch to it.

Which gigabit switch would you recommend for fairly modest use? It'll be connecting to a FireTV, a Smart TV and eventually a NAS.
 
It will, but power line being power line, it will drop from to time.

If you plan on transferring files between the machines, I'd look at fitting a line between them
 
Aye, but im at the mercy of what people are selling on a certain auction site. Im too poor to buy good stuff new :)
 
i would also recomend the TP link switch, running an 8 port myself never had any issues [even when i accidentally introduced a loopback ] and uses such low power it doesnt seem to give off any heat stuffed in a tiny cupboard

I've had some Powerline connections running for years with barely a blip.

If the connection is just mainly going to be used for Internet access then Powerline adapters will probably be fine. There's always going to be situations where they just don't work, but the same can be said for Wi-Fi.

They should be treated as an alternative to wireless. If the situation needs a cable then that's going to be the only option.
 
I am looking in to the possibility of running a wire but i'm a complete DIY spaz so it will all come down to the cost of paying someone to do it.
