So in short I have a full PC build and a copy of Windows 7, but no optical drive to run the Windows 7 disk on, so I'm going to need to boot from a USB. Only problem is I'm going to have to create the boot USB on my Macbook running Yosemite.

I would guess this would be possible, but I've never done it before and I know there are issues when it comes to USB formatting between Mac and Windows. So how would I go about this?

Please tell me it's as easy as selecting 'Create a Windows 7 or later version install disk' in Bootcamp :D

I don't think that application, or other similar ones, work on Mac.

Bootcamp will let me create a bootable USB, I just don't know if it will boot in a PC environment (e.g., I know Macs usually format USBs in a different way). I was hoping someone has experience with this.

If I can't create a USB that will boot on PC using my Mac, then I suppose I'll have to do it the long way by installing a trial version of Windows 8 or something, and then creating a bootable USB in that. That shouldn't cause any issues.
