Will all this go together?

If I can't get my current rig to start working properly (link ), i'm think about splitting it up for parts and putting it on the bay, and getting a whole new setup. Only thing i'll keep is the drives (hard and optical), and external stuff.

What do you think of this setup?

Is it ok? would that memory, cpu, mobo work together? Would it all just plug together and work without messing about in the bios (i'm sick of doing that atm!)?

You spec is good, but for a bit more money, you could get a much better system:

Antec Sonata II Piano Black Quiet Case - 450W Smart Power PSU £66.99
(£78.71) £66.99
(£78.71) Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - OEM £93.99
(£110.44) £93.99
(£110.44) Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £84.99
(£99.86) £84.99
(£99.86) GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC5300 667MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB5300DC) £129.99
(£152.74) £129.99
(£152.74) PowerColor ATI Radeon X1950 Pro Extreme SILENT Heatpipe 256MB GDDR3 VIVO HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail £108.99
(£128.06) £108.99
(£128.06) Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775) £13.99
(£16.44) £13.99
(£16.44)

Total : £597.95

With that CPU, Motherboard and cooler combination, you should reach E6600 levels with ease and you get a much better case to go with it  :)

looks fine but i suggest you get a psu with more than 400W.

Rubbish, that PSU is more than adequate for the system he has specced ;)

Like Trigger says, I would suggest going with an Intel C2D system as the AM2 offers nothing for the price. The C2D will give much more performance, but good choice on the graphics card. Cracking price atm. ;)

The only reason I have been thinking of the AM2 system is because i've had AMD systems for ages and don't know anything about the intel cpus, apart from they are better at the minute :D

Same here mate, I want to stay with AMD as I know "how they work" but at the end of the day you'll be wasting your money honestly. Plenty of nice folks here with the new C2D rigs will happily help you out. As far as assembling the stuff, it should be the same as any AMD setup, it would be setting up the BIOS and overclocking which would confuse me. :(

Yeh definatley, i've used AMD for ages now and i hate it how Intel are better.

May i suggest this tho for 10 pounds cheaper, the HIS is better than the Powercolour and averages about 3-5 fps more in games! And this memory will allow you to overclock the 6300 to 2.8ghz. The 667mhz probably wouldnt. ;)

Yeh your spec was spot on for the money, just needed to change some of it. EG. Powercolour to HIS etc etc!
