Well thinking this will happen anyone know any better if they are countering another slashing to coincide with intels price cut 22nd april. .consumer wins both sides if it is happening.

AMD/ATI should see them for 50p that shift them and people would buy them. :p

Why?

AMD have reduced the prices enough to make there CPU's good value vs. the lower end Intel stuff.

AMD X2 3800+ for £39 - I think that says enough.

does everyone live in the vat free world :D i actually get quite annoyed when companies do that just to make there items look cheaper one total price would be nice. Its the high end ones im talking about 5000 upwards would like a price drop pls :p

Well if they are too expensive for you buy a cheaper one and overclock it.

Or maybe if you want more performance actually buy a new cheaper Core2Duo, shock horror, is that logic or what :p

*X2 5600+ is as cheap as £113 inc. VAT anyhow, I don't think OCUK have reduced the price on that one yet.

no would like to buy one soon. But with this intel price slash soon dont want to buy one now for it to be slashed like 20 30 quid for 2 or 3 days. Its expensive enough already.Dont want to go c2d as it means changing a lot of crap and messing about and a high 5000 or above will do me fine until the newer amd stuff is established which might wipe conroes ass.Well have to wait and see.

Get the words 'Price Slash' out of your head, how much do you think they are coming down too, £50?

The 6320 will be no lower than £90 inc. VAT so why would AMD reduce their chips any further if the 5200+ etc, at stock performs about the same and costs less.

right so 5200 is 113 yes
intel say 6320 90 yes(after price cut)
so in theory perform same yes
price cut nvidia to match at least or under cut yes
see what im getting at. wait til monday see if theyve dropped the high end stuff shall we then ill eat my humble pie.

The new 'Pentium' E2xxx series will be out soon, to start offering 'Core 2 Duo' based technology to the budget markets. Even at 1.6Ghz they will still be pretty fast, should be able to keep up with the X2 3800's.

Intel want a slice of every pie. (actually I think intel just want to have all the pies, and forget about slices)

Why not. Wouldnt you rather have all the blackberry and Apple pie, rather than giving some to your family :D

You can give them the icecream though, it sucks

 Sorry going a bit of topic

AMD may aswell drop the prices of their chips as i cant see many of them selling especially seeing the prices of c2d chips and with the prospect of the E2** series coming out soon. The longer they leave it the deeper hole they will be in. The only hope AMD have now in my eyes is their new barcelona core, so fingers crossed (for them) its a good one!
