I have my current system a 3700sd, gigabyte k8nu-sli, 2x250gig barracudas in raid with 6800gt's in sli and the old girls just slightly struggling to play at the setting i would like. I play bf2 at 1024 x 764 with 4aa no af and all max settings and the annoying thing is it ALMOST pulls it off but doenst quite give me the smoothness I would like, Its hard to explain but foreground movement is pretty smooth as is walking movement but backgrounds and buildings can seem to stutter as if they are not getting to where they are supposed to be quite quick enough when you look left to right. I have Vsync enabled with triple buffering to eliminate tearing so my fps ar now limited to the refresh rate of my monitor 60fps, when playing the fps will drop at times down to 40's in intensive scenes, If i disable the vsync my max fps will go up to 100fps(good) but then dropping to 40fps in intensive scenes. I can up the resolution to 1280x1024 and this only drops my lowest fps to about 37-38fps, at the same time a drop in res to 800x600 will only bring me up to 47fps minimum, so nothing much to gain there really. Im hoping for a constant above 60fps and very tempted by the 1800xt because of the good price but worried this would just give me max fps increase and not bring up my min fps which I think is causing my problem, also the fact I have an sli motherboard is a bit off putting also..

Any advice appreciated, thanks
