Hi, i am looking for somebody to OC my system. I know little about OC'ing and seems a shame not to OC my rig. It has a D0 17 920 with an i7 extrme coller on it. Looking for about 3ghz? The RAM is also running at 1066 when it could be at 1600mhz(a simple voltage tweak?). Will a tech at OcUK do this and if so how much?

Other specs(not sure if you need to know):
asus 4890
ocz 700w
P6T motherboard
antec 1200 case

Why not just try out a very simple overclock yourself – you may be happy with the results?

Leave all other setting on auto and just increase the BCLK until the computer starts failing Prime95 (or the stress app of your choice). Once it begins to buckle revert back to the last known stable BCLK setting. Then use and abuse it in games and apps and see if it remains stable – if it doesn’t reduce the BCLK again. (obviously check your temps while stress testing.) TBH, if your only after 3GHz you'll probably achieve that usuing this method without any other tweaking.

If the system remains stable you can either: stick with your simple, and very probable, substantial overclock, or, you could start increasing the BCLK by very small increments and adjusting the vCore and other appropriate BIOS settings accordingly when it buckles. Of course you may need some guidance from this point onwards but at least you’ll have a slightly better understanding of the process when you come back with questions.

EDIT: This thread is a great guide to overclocking - link - and will probably help demystify some of the process for you.

Only problem is i have no idea what any of them terms are let alone how to ajust them :S. The way i see it is id rather just pay sombody 50 odd quid to do it and get it right rather than spend a few hours of the little time that im getting atm to mess with somthing i have no understanding over. I would like to get into OC'ing in the near future but atm im just too busy to find the spare time :(.

I don't think OC's offer the service you after - so your not inclined to try it yourself your only option is your nearest independent computer shop. They should be able to cope with a minor 3GHz overclock on an i7 920 - but i would be asking for at least 3.5GHz if i was paying for it.

Give them a ring and see what they say - you only want to be paying around £20-£30 for a moderate clock. I doubt they would even bother stress testing a 3GHz clock...

I live about 20-30 mins away from OcUK shop...In a little village called Wetley Rocks lol.
Didnt really fancy going over 3.5 but i do have a titan fenrir in a cupboard somewhere but i didnt want to take my MOBO out as i dont know how to put it back together ;)(apperently i have to screw it to the bottom).

If you're that close they may well do a drop in service for a nominal charge - ring them and ask. If they agree ask for a 3.5GHz to 4GHz clock as they really know their stuff. They'll save the BIOS profile on your MB so if you lose it you can just load it back up again.

Well 3.5Ghz is 10 mins work and a few hours stress testing. Maybe someone local to you will offer up there services. One thing you could do is maybe get someone to send you the bios settings if they have same mobo as you. Get them to set up the ram timings and speed etc as well as all the other options. I cant see you will need much over stock voltage for 3.5Ghz.

No worries.

If you change your mind though - we could get 3GHz very quickly over the forums. But if you feel happier getting it sorted by OC's then good luck with it - but i would certaily request a higher clock for your money. ;)

Yeah Plec i bought all the components from OcUK

Stress this in your phone call - as it will aid your cause. I'm not sure it's a service they offer as standard but as you bought all your parts from them and you can drop it in/pick up - they may make an exception.

Like i said they may not be able to guarantee the clock as they didn't cherry pick the parts - but they may be happy to give you a moderate clock and fit the Titan.

Won't be cheap though as they will have to take the MB out to fit the Titan and then apply the clock, which will take minutes, but then they will need to stress test it for a few hours.
