Oh it's still 24mbit as I sync at 24.5 as I'm really close to the exchange. It's something to do with how they are allowed to advertise their products.
Will BE ever do fibre optic?

Yep Ofcom/ASA (not sure which) told them they couldn't advertise it as 24Mb due to that.
Just got my MAC code from BE, much as they are a great company I can't live with 3.8mb after moving house. Annoyingly I used to get 12.5mb with BE barely a mile away from where I moved to last year which was plenty fast enough for me. BE offered me a half price deal of somekind however I'm only paying a fiver a month for the first three months on plusnet and should get an estimated 59mb dl. Even when it goes up to full price its still pretty much the same as what I was paying for BE unlimted. I will return to BE in several years if/when they ever get a decent unmanaged fibre product.
