Will be/o2 be able to be faster than Sky on the same line

I live 3Kilometers from the exchange [straight line] and it says I should get about 512kbps, with Sky BB I got about 2.5mbps and with o2 I now get about 3mbps - sometimes drops down to 2.7.

i used to pay 38 quid for 10 meg cable with vm(now i think they give 20 meg for abt that price).
less than a year later im paying 18 quid for 22meg with bethere.

cable isnt always better.

Bring on fibre-optics i say, to be truly honest.
Think in France most of there internet cabling is fibre optics and they get on average 15meg as standard, and there tv/internet/etc, cheap as french fries.

plus it isnt really £5 you have your line rental on top of that.

Yeah it is. NTL phone line rental is £10 as well.

Cool, thanks everyone. I'm going for it. If I get at least 2 meg I'll be happy enough.
But I'm going to wait and see if Virgin even turn off the service. When I moved house they didn't turn the phone or cable off for about a year. That was NTL thuogh, I think Virgin are a little bit more organised.

A lot of people these days use their mobile or a VOIP service for calls. I'm one of them :p

So usually I end up with a BT line without a phone even plugged into it. Le fun.
