I guess this is the sort of thing you end up with when you have a group/community of people who live outside the laws that apply to the rest of society...

Aside from dodging tax, ignoring planning laws, pulling girls out of school at about 13-ish... and generally increasing the crime rate in whatever areas they decide to pich up camp in it seems that some ****** also tend to ignore basic employment laws/minimum wage to the point where vulnerable people have been held as slaves..

The above isn't an isolated incident.

Yet local authorities are supposed to provide spaces for these people to camp etc... I don't see why traveler culture should be protected, if anything we should be encouraging it to die out. Sure if someone wants to live in a caravan, pay their taxes, not break planning laws, ensure their kids get sent to school until 16 and not trespass on people's land then fair enough but it seems plenty are happy to ignore certain parts of our legal system.

Yes 28 reports over a three year period, thats not going to look good in the newspapers tomorrow.
As said elsewhere, time the traveller sites are subject to regular enforcement raids.

problem is they targeted vagrant types etc.. so the witnesses aren't too credible also anything to do with travelers is potentially very controversial so the police, I'd presume, are generally more reluctant to get involved with traveler issues.

Still 28 people over 3 years is a bit ridicules - something should have happened sooner...

Doesn't the act of violating planning laws contradict their "traveling" ways? I've always thought it's a bit of an odd one that. If they're travellers, why would they need building control approval and or planning permission for anything?

They seems to have a habit of parking up caravans and then building bungalows next to them, and toilet blocks and other outbuildings...

I don't really see why we should need to make any special provisions for them - we've got planning laws in place for a reason, if travelers are allowed to buy up cheap green belt farm land and develop on it then so should anyone else - obviously this would be silly as we have green belt land for good reason.

They exist outside of society and tbh.. this isn't a good thing - they don't pay tax, girls are pulled out of school early, women subjected to domestic violence frequently, lower life expectancy and higher infant mortality and crime rates seem to rise where ever they end up. Yet they're still happy to use government services when they feel like it and are happy to ignore planning laws that everyone else has to abide by and attempt to develop on sites they have no permission to develop on.

So far 37 properties have been offered to #dalefarm travellers, none accepted.

Authorities have to bend over backwards to help these people - apparently the eviction has partly been delayed so that bailiffs can receive appropriate cultural awareness training...

Yet the crusty/hippie types are calling it 'ethnic cleansing'

Also this is interesting - the scrap yard before and after the ****** decided to set up camp... not exactly a greenfield site admittedly but they've still managed to trash it and cut down shrubbery - the local residents probably didn't appreciate the impact on schools, crime etc.. either.

I would have to disagree. Living in regular society and going to school until you are at least 16 does not stop you from being scum.

I don't see how that contradicts my post?

Yes some people who live in regular society are scum - so what?
