Will BIOS update reset my OC?

Have had my system (in sig below) for some time now. It works fine. Every now and again, I get BIOS update popups, which I have always dismissed thinking they might reset my OC. Is this the case? It was OC'd at build and I have no real idea how to re-OC should it be reset. A whole load of pain I can do without on my stable system.

SO, can I click on the update BIOS pop up without loosing the OC?

Cheers

To update the bios you will have to reset the overclock prior to flashing. The overclocked settings may not work on the new bios, in all honesty id just leave it as it is. Only update the bios if it brings support for new features that you have issues with. If it ain't broke don't fix it so to say.

No you will lose your oc. There should however be provision to save it on the hdd as a settings file. If you know what your doing. Otherwise step away from the update! I only update a bios if it brings a new worthwhile feature.

Kind of as I suspected - thanks for the confirmation.

My PC is running just fine. I too am of the thought "if it aint broke, don't fix it". I have upgraded before for almost zero benefit, just to enter a world of pain trying to sort out conflicts that were never there in the first place.

Wouldn't like to try and re-OC my machine with my limited knowledge when it is currently so stable.

Might be an idea to take photos of all of your BIOS screens that have the overclock settings on. Even if you don't update your BIOS now you could still loose your settings for instance if your CMOS battery runs low, so having a record of them would be worthwhile and would make a future update less hassle if it's ever needed.

Even handier, use a flash drive and take screenshots in bios. F12 to take the pic on an Asus board. Save to flash drive and then you always have a record of settings.

Hey, now that is a good idea - just for the idiot here (me), just take screenshots/photos of every BIOS screen? Anything in particular I should be looking for?

Help appreciated.

Ai overclocking section is really all you need, and probably the CPU power saving options if theese are enabled.
