Will C2D 6600s always be good overclockers?

Hi all.

I'm just about to build a new C2D rig, and was thinking of buying a 6600 as it seems to overclock really well.

Will these processors always be good clockers, or is it because they are still fairly new and Intel will eventually tighten up on this?

I remember in the old days, that new processors were good clockers, but after a time, Intel improved their production/binning and the processors wouldn't clock as well.

But not sure I explained what I meant properly...

If I bought a 6600 towards the end on January, is it still likely to overclock as well as the current batches do, or will Intel have sorted out their end by then? It is possible that Intel will see people buying cheaper CPUs and overclocking then, and then either locking the multipliers, or binning faster CPUs as 6800s.

Just worried that I buy a 6600 at the end of Jan, and find I can only run it at 2.4GHz

I guess I'll have to just cross my fingers I'm hoping to get 3GHz, but don't really want to push it any further.

Can't wait to get my new rig... but am waiting for eVGA to sort out the BIOS on their 680 mobo before I buy
