Ok, I follow every piece of Crysis-related news with eager anticipation for the demo/final release.
We can see from all the HD movies and screenshots that it will deliver on the graphical front, in the same way as Far Cry raised the bar for graphics in 2004.
I do have my concerns though that with all the very best intentions of Crytek that it will fail to deliver a complete gameplay experience to match the eye candy on offer.
The AI in the latest video from E3 seems no more advanced than Far Cry. The developer states that they had to build in much more advanced AI compared to FarCry to deal with the nature of the destructible environment. AI in FarCry was point driven, whereby certain area, e.g rocks/terrain etc. could be reliably used by the AI to hide. The changing environment in Crysis poses a greater challenge for the AI, and Crytek claimed to have developed this in, but from looking at the various videos available the AI seems a bit, shall we say, confused at times
Whats the general consensus of opinion here ? Do we think Crysis will give us new revolutionary gameplay elements beyond a tech-demo display of awesome graphics ? or will the experience go into meltdown when the island gets frozen and the aliens escape (Trigens anyone?) ?
