Will DDR2- 5300 run in 4200 Motherboard

Is DDR2 PC2-5300 backwards compatible and run in motherboard that says DDR2
PC-3200 or PC-4300,i thought would run at the slower speed OK but wont boot
with new ram.Is there anything i can do to BIOS etc to get it working?

Isn't there usually an option in the bios to set the ram speed? I have that option on all of my computers, even on my acer pre builts motherboard (I think).

Anyway to answer your question yes it is backwards compatible.
