will ddr2 ram work in a ddr1 motherboard ?

my old rig is an athlon xp2100 with ddr pc2700 ram

if i took this ram out and put in either a single or both sticks of pc6400 ddr2, would it work in the old rig running at ddr1 speeds ?

the motherboard is an ASUS A7V333 so will do 266 fsb like the DS3...

argh looks like im stuck with 512 ram then lol

is it ok to put another 512 ddr1 pc2700 of another brand in ? its currently samsung.
