I've looked online and found an ASUS compatability chart and it specifies that only the following RAM types will work with my motherboard:-
  • DDR3 1066 MHz
  • DDR3 1333 MHz
  • DDR3 1600 MHz
It doesnt say anything about whether or not DDR4 will work with it though, hoping someone can shed some light on whether DDR4 will work with it?

TIA.

Luke.

Motherboard - ASUS H81M PLUS
Processor - Intel Core i5-4440
RAM - 8gb Vengeance LP DDR3 (I Think)
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
PSU - Corsair CX750
Hard drives:-
- ST1000DM003-1CH162 (Running most games from this drive)
- SanDisk Uldtra II 240gb (Running windows 10 on this drive)
Coolermaster K350 ATX Case

Mainly gaming, my RAM and CPU are running maxed out playing games like Borderlands 3 causing some stuttering, will upgrading the RAM allow the CPU more processing ability? and possibly stop the stuttering?

I can only give example of games like Bf4/bfv which smashes every cpu to 100%.. if you are running out of memory that would def cause stuttering. most of the time mines use 9 or 10gb ram in gaming. trouble is your board only has 2 dims so you have to get 2x 8gb , this probably isn't cost effective for an older system

how do you mean its not cost effective for an older system? what would you advise is the best course of action for my situation?

Personally id upgrade to DDR4 platform if you have the money... I see where Kurgen in coming from and as you only have to DIMM slots you will need to buy 2x 8gb sticks but id put that money towards new platform
