Will different timings cause an issue.

Hi, I've recently had a few issues with stability on my pc and I'm currently trying to understand why. My pc sometimes freezes/crashes or becomes very laggy in games all of a sudden. This has not happened loads but i though id look into it.

I ran amd overdrive stability test but it fails after a few mins saying
"Calculation Test > Illegal sumeout
Calculation Test > Possible hardware failure"

One thing that i changed a few months back was my ram i had
corsair vengeance 2x8GB cmy16gx3m2a1866c9 timings 9-10-9-27
i added
corsair vengeance 2x8GB cmy16gx3m2c1866c10r timings 10-11-11-30

This was the closest match ram i could find.

Could the timings cause me problems?

My motherboard MSI 990FXA bios is set to DRAM timing mode = auto i can change this to link and set the timings for all module's but dont know what one to change the old or the new. I can unlink it also and i believe i can set the timings differently for each module.

Or is this not my problem and i should keep my hands off before i brake it?

I've also considered heat could be my issue and I'm looking into that also

Regards
Neil

Hi,
specs are
cpu FX-9590 coolmaster liquid cooler but only 120mm radiator (EK S360 kit on its way)
motherboard msi Gaming 990FXA
Ram 32gb listed above
Graphics msi Gaming 280x (rx 580 on its way)
corsair 850w psu

Think my problem is mostly heat in regards to the freezing amd overdrive showed my thermal margin briefly drop as low as 6 degrees when running bf1 for an hour.

but still unsure where i get the error when running a stability test
