Do u think the DX10 cards released next year will be slightly smaller to be fit into other cases?

I think they will, the R600 is supposed to be smaller than G80 already.

The reason these cards are so long is because of the amount of chips needed. The gpu is much larger than previous gpus, and there is now a seperate chip for the TDMS logic and RAMDACs, which are usually contained in the gpu. There are also 12 ram chips (1Gb cards will have 16 
), so don't expect these cards to get much smaller, even with a smaller fab process.

The cards getting bigger with more stuff on has diminishing returns though. As they start to get several km long the lag from the shear distance the electrons have to travel will start to cause an issue... That is before they start connecting the different bits with different halves of the same atom.
