Hi guys,

We've just had our fences replaced and an area of the lawn needs some seeding.

Will grass seed grow in this dodgy weather we get in the UK in November?!

Thanks,

Mal

Not much point now.

I laid some turf at the end of September and it's taken fine, but at this time of year I'd just wait for the spring instead.

I laid a new lawn from seed in November a couple of years ago and it came up great. I was told that it's best to do so in Autumn, I wasn't convinced, but it worked.

The best time to sow grass is when there is an r in the month. Yes now is a good time to sow grass and by march is will be strong well rooted grass and ready for the coming growing season.

I put seed down last Oct with a mix of light sand and top soil. Made no difference. However, there wasn't much rain then, unlike this year so I wonder if that makes a difference? I was thinking that maybe its was just sitting on top doing nothing,

We put some seed down (bare patches) at the end of September and it's come up. I think that it's too late now with temperatures falling and you should wait until late spring.

Put it down and cover it with clear plastic, the plastic will insulate and the seed will germinate. I've done it several times before.
