Hi, basically i want to upgrade my current HD6850 to a HD7970 so i can run multiple screens. But I have no idea if my CPU or my setup in general will be able to handle it.
1 Person has said it will be fine, where another person said it would muck up my system
So i need help.
Pc specs:
AMD FX8120 3.1GHz
Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 (I'm thinking of getting a ASUS M5A97)
8GB DDR3 Kingston RAM (Not sure on speed)
750W PSU (Can't remember model or brand but i know its a good one)

Thanks.

Do you mean gaming across multiple screens, or just for Windows/browsing etc.?
If it's the latter, you should be able to do that on your existing card.

Its obviously a far better card than what you have so may introduce a bottleneck. However your machine will only run as fast as the slowest component.

So yes it will work, yes it will do 3 monitors but may cause a bottleneck meaning you probably wont get its full potential.

At Eyefinity resolutions the graphics card will be the bottleneck rather than the CPU. Takes a lot of grunt to push that many pixels around.
