Will i be able to upgrade my RAM?

Hi there. I am able to get my hands on 2gb of RAM in the next few days, but am i correct in thinking that you can get different types of RAM and some do not work in some computers.

If the above is true, is there a way to find out which type of RAM my computer has and can take without taking the case off?

yeah there is DDR, DDR2 and DDR3

all types come in different speeds, timmings etc.


This

will tell you what ram you have in your system just now, under the "memory" tab

so just get the same stuff and you're sorted

can be a different amount, ie, 512Mb, 1gig etc
just make sure its the same type and speed

Okay, it says Type DDR. is this the only type my PC can accept, or is this just what it has in at the moment?

Thats all it can take, DDR2 and DDR3 wont physicaly fit in the slot, there different sizes
