`Will I be ok using an IDE burner ?

You will be fine, when installing Windows you need to change the boot order, but when using windows there will no problems.

We can't see your cart, please highlight and paste to the forums.

So it will try and boot off of the sata1 hdd that wont have anything on it , so I have to change the boot order to sata1 then ide, instead of sata1, sata2 etc ?

In a way yes, when you look in the BIOS boot options it will show all of the drives connected to the system, I.E. IDE and SATA also any usb drives.

Ok, Im looking at the online mb manual, it shows "first boot device" set to HARD DISC and "second boot device" set to CDROM , its not specifying ide or sata........... ?

he is right, find a review for EVERYTHING you buy if possible. saves wasting time and money in the long run. even if u think its a waste of time browsing google for hours.

not just on OCuk. youtube video reviews (ignor the bullcrap the reviewer is talking about skip straight to the comments)

just a question. the ONLY difference between IDE optical and sata optical is the speed right?

The first review I posted about the 5770 is not from OCuk, yea I think its just the speed , I wouldnt have thought any movie you burn on a ide drive will come out any different. lol....... Lenny

It's just a speed thing at the end of the day. Just loading the OS or other software via a IDE device will be a little slower. But unless your sat with a stopwatch and timing different optical drives you'll never notice a difference for a one off or the few occasions you actually use it
