Will i get sound output through this cable?

I am using that hdmi converter at the moment but it is currently going into the vga input on my lcd tv hence no sound. Once i buy a cable which has the gpu outpuit on one end and the hdmi on the other will I get sound then?

Yes, you will need to go into the options menu on the software to enable sound over HDMI when your new HDMI comes.

If you are using the bundled ATi DVI to HDMI converter (not DVI to VGA), then you are using HDMI.

You say you are using VGA, thus you are NOT using the bundled DVI to HDMI converter.

As far as I know the converter that i had with my gpu just plugs into one end of the 15pin monitor input and then once the converter is on it then plugs into the gpu. However the other end of the cable has a vga end so i will have to buy a cable thats dvi on the pc end and hdmi on the end that will go to my lcd

That is a DVI to VGA (15-pin D-SUB connector) converter. Which allows you to plug an analog signalled display into the DVI port.

Most modern ATi cards also come with a DVI to HDMI converter (looks similar in dimensions, but has HDMI in place of the 15-pin connector). You NEED to use this to get audio out of the DVI port on the card. Then you would need an HDMI to HDMI cable.
