I'm guessing yes, but what do you guys think? The camera has a wide angle lens so the cops are actually closer than in looks.

Sorry about the wire, it fell from the headlining and I've not got round to hiding it again.

Hard to tell, but I'd guess you got away with it. Whenever I've seen police conducting speed checks like that, they usually either have a larger video recording type device or they stop people at the time. You weren't going that fast so maybe they were looking for more serious offenders.

The guy in the the left had his jacket open and looks pretty casual not really a police kind of look. Could be though.

EDIT. OK maybe that's a poor analysis.

Hard to tell.

If they were actually police I'd say yes, you were doing 38 for a good proportion of the straight (12 seconds to 17 seconds in that video) they would have easily clocked you in that zone. But normally they put signs up etc, time will tell.

EDIT: at that speed worse it'll be either a speed awareness coure or £60 fine and 3 points. You don't truely qualify as a man until you've been caught speeding at least once.

Might be one of those urban legends/old wives tales - but is it true signs have to be put up or already in place if caught speeding in circumstances such as this?
And by the way I also thought they looked too casual to be police :)

Thanks for the response so far. It's a 40mph road until about 250m before where the officers were standing. I'm sure they're genuine police as that's what the back of their jackets said.

Oh yeah, just looking back through the video again, there is signage of speed cameras on the speed limite signs, you were doing 38mph a good 4-5 seconds as you passed the 30 limit.

But yea, 3 points and a fine or speed awareness at the end of the day, plenty worse things can happen in life. Enjoy the experience.

Is it smart to leave a video on youtube showing you speeding, with evidence of your speed, location and time?
